Two (or three) wheels, and so much joy! Choosing a bike for your youngster
Riding a bike is one of those skills that once learned remains with you for life. That's why the early stages of your child's bike riding are so important – the first moments in which your pride and joy starts learning independence and discovers that riding a bike is unbelievable fun and a great way of discovering the world, making friends and outdoor physical activity.
To not discourage your youngster and help them want to try again (and again!), choose a bike that's perfectly suited to your child's needs. What does this mean in practice, and which bike should you choose?
From your child's needs to making a decision. Types of bikes for young children
You want your little one to learn how to ride a bike, but which one should you buy to make this a success? One that'll be a great gift for a one-year-old and can even be used by your child at home? One that'll be the perfect vehicle for joint walks, and with time as your youngster grows, can transform into an independent bike for older children? Or perhaps one that's great for going outside, playing and training balance before moving to a classic bike?
A parent facing the decision of which bike to buy for their little cyclist has countless options to choose from. To avoid confusion, we're going to put the different types of children's bikes in order. Our range includes:
- wooden balance bikes – their frames are made of lightweight, durable wood; they're easy to carry, but hard to damage, even during crazy rides; they look amazing (check out UNIQ and RUNNER) and are refined down to the last detail – this is also to ensure the child's safety; the wooden frame is sanded and has no sharp edges;
- metal balance bikes – some are sports one (e.g. GOSWIFT, SPACE), while others are classic, e.g. retro ladies bike (e.g. RAPID); just like wooden balance bikes, they teach your child how to catch their balance; bikes in this group include models equipped with a lightweight frame made of magnesium alloy, thanks to which 'metal' doesn't necessarily mean 'difficult to carry';
- tricycles with a ride-on toy frame – ideal as the first bike for your little one: they're lightweight and tailored to your child's capabilities; thanks to the large handles and comfortable, fully adjustable seat, they can take their first steps as a cyclist;
- modular tricycles (4-in-1 and 5-in-1) – these grow with your child thanks to their frame, from which with time you can remove individual elements without using any tools; at the beginning, a modular tricycle will act as a little vehicle for walks that's fully controlled by you using the long and comfortable handle, and with time, it'll transform into an independent bike for your older child.
